This chair is inspired by traditional 20th century modern design, traditionally recognized for its male architects and designers. My piece plays with the idea of male dominance by using luxury men’s shirt materials to create a seating surface that smoothes the structure’s sharp edges.

Materials used: Cherry wood from Kozela Lumberyard, cotton fabric scraps from Marc Allen tailoring, and foam scraps from RISD’s upholstery studio. All local to Rhode Island.
